1 / 8Side Lofted Barn
Barn Storage with Easy Side Access
The storage you want, with access where you want it and more natural light inside. The side-entry design puts the doors where they are easiest to reach, facing your driveway, patio, garden, or work area instead of making you walk around to the end of the building. Extra windows bring in more natural light, while side access makes it easy to load equipment, grab what you need, and use your storage from the side that works best for you.

The Side Lofted Barn - Barn Storage with Easy Side Access
The Side Lofted Barn suits properties where the back of the building is not the convenient side. Set the doors to face the driveway, the garden, or wherever you actually load and unload, and the two full-length lofts still give you the same overhead storage as the standard Lofted Barn.
Every Prairie Built Barns structure can be delivered fully assembled and set on your property or built on site. We use premium materials, which can include LP SmartSide® engineered siding, pressure-treated skids, and quality flooring, to build structures that stand strong with minimal maintenance.

Imagine the Possibilities
Sports & Recreation Gear
Give bicycles, scooters, golf equipment, camping gear, sports equipment, and outdoor games a dedicated home. The side-door layout makes it easier to grab one item without having to rearrange everything else.
Workshop with a Full-Length Back Wall
The side-door layout leaves the entire back wall open for shelving, tools, work surfaces, or equipment. Two uninterrupted lofts provide additional overhead storage while keeping the main floor open and accessible.
Mower & ATV Parking
Drive straight in from the side, park along the wall, and still walk past to the back of the building. No shuffling equipment to reach what is behind it. Always remember certain restrictions do apply in regards to weight and point loads.
Overhead Loft Storage
The same storage-doubling lofts as our flagship Lofted Barn sit above the doors, holding totes, camping gear, and seasonal items clear of the working floor.
Garden & Nursery Work
Side entry puts the doors where the beds are. Potting soil, trays, and hand tools stay steps from the garden instead of around the corner.
The Side Lofted Barn - Available Sizes
The Side Lofted Barn comes in 25 standard sizes, from compact to roomier configurations with serious capacity. Every size features the same high-quality Prairie Built Barns construction. The listed price includes an extensive warranty, free delivery, and setup within 50 miles of your dealer.

Also Known As
You may see this style called a side-entry lofted barn, side-door barn shed, gambrel side barn, hi-loft side barn, or simply a side barn. The names change. The reason people choose it does not.
Sometimes the best building is not the one with the most space. It is the one that fits the way your property actually works. A side entrance can face the driveway instead of the back fence. It can open toward the garden, patio, or work area. It can make the building feel like it belongs exactly where you put it instead of forcing your property to work around the shed.
That is the real advantage of the Side Lofted Barn: the storage you want, with access where you want it. Prairie Built Barns combines that practical layout with the classic barn look and dependable construction built for everyday use.

Standard door and window layouts vary by building length, with one to two standard windows included to provide additional natural light based on the size of the building.
Permit requirements vary by county and municipality. Generally, structures under 200 sq ft do not require a permit in most jurisdictions, but we always recommend checking with your local zoning office. Our delivery crews work efficiently to get your building placed and set up shortly after arrival and will call ahead to confirm site readiness. Buildings can be placed directly on the ground or on a prepared surface such as gravel or concrete.
